Identity discrimination (ID- LGBTQ) happens when a person is treated less favorably than other people in a similar situation because of that person’s gender identity issue, appearance, or other gender-related characteristics.

It does not matter what that person was at the time of birth or whether the person has undergone any medical intervention.

What is the meaning of LGBTQ?

The terms LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning) describes a few groups within the gay culture. The early initiatives for people who were gay focused mainly on men. But now, it has taken the shape of a big group called LGBTQ.

People who are bisexual or trans genders used to be left out or underrepresented in research studies and health initiatives. But, it is now considered standard to include these two groups and gay men and lesbians.

L stands for: LESBIAN, A woman whose enduring physical, romantic, and emotional attraction is to other women.

G stands for: GAY A man whose enduring physical, romantic, and emotional attraction is to another man.

B stands for: BISEXUAL A person who can form enduring physical, romantic, and emotional attractions to those of the same gender or another gender.

T stands for: TRANSGENDER, An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and gender expression differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth. A transgender identity is not dependent upon their physical appearance or medical procedures.

Q stands for: QUESTIONING Sometimes, when the Q is seen at the end of LGBT, it can also mean questioning. This term depicts somebody who is scrutinizing their sexual direction or orientation personality.
